The 2025 Met Gala, set for May 5, is poised to be a landmark celebration of Black culture, fashion, and influence. This year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” delves into the art of Black dandyism and the profound impact of Black style on global fashion narratives.

Leading this year’s gala are cultural icons who embody the essence of the theme:
• Pharrell Williams: Renowned musician and the men’s creative director at Louis Vuitton, Pharrell brings his visionary approach to fashion and music.
• A$AP Rocky: A trailblazer in blending streetwear with high fashion, his style has consistently pushed boundaries.
• Lewis Hamilton: The Formula 1 champion known for his sartorial elegance and advocacy for diversity in motorsports.
• Colman Domingo: Acclaimed actor and playwright, celebrated for his dynamic presence both on-screen and on the red carpet.
• Anna Wintour: The longstanding Vogue editor-in-chief, continuing her influential role in the fashion industry.
Joining them as honorary chair is LeBron James, whose influence extends beyond basketball into fashion and philanthropy.
🧵 The Exhibition: A Tribute to Black Sartorial Excellence
The accompanying exhibition, curated by Andrew Bolton with guest curator Monica L. Miller, draws inspiration from Miller’s book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. It explores over three centuries of Black fashion, highlighting how style has been a form of resistance, identity, and creativity within the Black community.
